One of the places I visited during my adventure was the famous Hotel2Tango. Both a recording studio and home base for the Constellation record label, Hotel2Tango has garnered a reputation as the studio of choice for bands and artists of all genres and styles ranging from Basia Bulat to Toronto favourites Greys.
The same day i was to return to Ontario, a few hours before my train would leave grand central, I had the pleasure of talking to Don Wilkie. Don is one of the founders of Constellation records. On that warm summer day we sat down in the parking lot of studio at a picnic table across from each other. After a few minutes of idol chit chat I turned on my recorder and started the interview. We talked at length about the the studio, the record label, the artistic history of the Mile End neighbourhood, and local music scene, while we took sips of ice water.
I was given a brief tour of the studio and the work space of the label. Unfortunately I was not able to see the basement area where they are rumoured store metaphorical mountains of demo tapes they have been sent over the years. here are some pictures I took.
I would like to thank Don Wilkie for taking the time to talk with me
